With rains lashing all over the city, it is a given that you venture out for a trek on lush hills on a rainy weekend. The majestic ruins of Lohagad is one such destination which you should not miss visiting during the rains. Lohagad is known for the spectacular view it offers during monsoon and of course, its rich history! You could also trek the neighbouring Vispur Fort, which is slightly higher than Lohagad. Just a stone’s throw away from Mumbai, here’s how you reach this place by road.
Lohagad is about 94.2 kilometres from Mumbai and it takes about 2.5 hours to reach this place by road.
Follow Sion-Panvel Expressway and Mumbai – Pune Expressway to NH4 in Khandala, Lonavala. Then, take the Khandala – Lonavla exit from Pune Expressway. Continue on NH4 before driving in towards Lohagad trek road.
If you want to also visit the Bhaja Caves en route, then proceed towards the village called Malawli station and reach the junction of Bhaje Gaon. You can stop here and have sumptuous traditional Maharashtrian breakfast before going further!
